From a run in the woods today: it’s good to be alive.

Since catering became a major part of my life spring has meant the beginning of the crazy season, the listmaking-emailing-ordering-prepping-ducks-in-a-row pseudo-calm before the storm, the beginning of nearly non-stop intensity.  Spring meant the end of reasonable work hours, the end of free time, the end of fun exercise.  Since skiing became a major part of my life spring is the season I mourn the passing of winter and the bliss of snow covered trails.  A part of me became a contrarian to everyone else who rejoiced that spring days would usher in heat and all the activity and relaxation of summer days.

But who can argue with this?

I could smell these blossoms on the trail long before I saw them, then I had to linger and enjoy the intoxicating sweetness.  Birds, rain, flowers, frogs, lilacs, open windows, sunlight, ducklings, color…maybe spring isn’t so bad after all …
