My friend Frances recently introduced me to projects with handmade papers.  These prints are deliciously mesmerizing and rich with color, I could stare at them for hours.  The top photo is of a paper from Tibet and I’m having a hard time mustering up the nerve to take a pair of scissors to it!

Frances also showed us how to make boxes—repurposing old hardbound books and using their thick board covers to construct the frame, glue it together, then cover everything with these exquisite papers.  I already have a thing for containers, bags and boxes…this introduction of artisan papers only adds fuel to that fire.

For this box I cut out the internal pages from the book but left the cover and binding intact.  Then I glued together a box that fit and decorated it.  Martha Stewart eat your heart out!
